Opportunity
The EASA kitchen team feeds 500 people daily at the yearly summer assembly. This creates two-hour waiting lines. We understand this as a three-hour window with a captive audience of 500 participants to test new uses of public space.
Strategy
We changed the rules of the meal. First, we redirected the crowd to a secret location minutes before dinner. This confusion already split up existing groups during the five minute walk. A spinning wheel then randomly assigned diners to one of three stations, each serving a triple portion of a different dish. Participants had to find two strangers with the matching portions to assemble a complete meal, turning a passive wait into an active social game pushing for interactions.
